Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior representative commented the incident left him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
